§ The Reissues
Most new presses ask you to take their standard on faith. We would rather show it to you, at full scale, on books whose greatness is not in question.
So before the first original Crossroads titles arrive in 2027, we are publishing a short founding season of reissues: complete editions of works that earned permanence, by voices who saw our moment coming. Each one receives the whole treatment this house gives a book. A new foreword. The Crossings design system. An ebook built by hand. An audio edition recorded in-house, because audio is included in every book we publish, and that starts here.
These editions do a second job, and we are open about it. If you are considering publishing with Crossroads, the reissues are your preview. The page we build for Virginia Woolf is the page we build for you. The care her text receives is the care yours receives. Judge us on it.
And the choice of books is its own statement. A woman who had to found her own press to say what she meant. A physician of the inner life who took experience seriously before it was respectable. And a scientist dreaming of remaking the world, answered by the philosopher who saw the cost. That is the conversation this press exists to continue.

The 1929 argument for the material conditions of the writing life, by a writer who built those conditions with her own hands. Woolf published it herself, through Hogarth Press. Nobody calls her self-published; they call her the standard.

Selections from the 1902 Edinburgh lectures that set aside whether religion is true and asked what it is like to have one. The title is James's own, from his lecture on the sense of presence — the founding text of the psychology of the inner life.
Second in the season§ November 2026 · Signature dual edition
The famous 1924 exchange, together as one signature edition: Haldane's Daedalus, the scientist's dream of remaking the world, and Russell's Icarus, the philosopher's reply about what power does when it outruns wisdom. Two essays, back to back. A century old, and it reads like this morning.
